The last rep!

In bodybulding if the last rep is not hard than you are not getting the full effect of your work out.  I am preparing a guy right now for his first bodybuilding compitition and he is looking good!  Whatever reps I have him do the last one is almost impossable, it works.  The last rep is the most importand because you are putting so much stress on it, you are killing it, you are breaking it down.  Go maximum in every set and you will see big gains, and fast gains.  what do you think?  Jon North 2012

JonNorth: I agree with you, there is more than one way to achive your goals, but I do think the most effictive way is to go heavy on any program, but that is just me, I have no read up on alot of the scientific research, I could be all wrong!!! I just know whats works for me and the people I train, thanks for the response!

llulko: I see your point about going to fatigue with high reps… If you can do 20 reps with no problem its pointless..
 
However, I have read many experts say not to go to fatigue “all the time” when using heavy weights low reps.
 
I am not disagreeing with you although there are different methods of training and breaking plateaus… (Drop sets, super sets, agonist sets ect…)

JonNorth: A super set is going tell you cant go anymore or just doing more reps than usual,  usually with a lighter weight, so all I am saying is even if you are super setting do it with a heavier weight that is going to be harder than what you would do with a lighter weight.  A super set with light weight that you can get 20 times easy is pointless, unless you want to lose alot of weight and bocome skinny, am I wrong?

llulko: What if you are super setting the same muscle group??
Do you want to go to complete fatigue??
I have heard many experts say that you should not go to complete fatigue depending on your specific workout specially on your first couple sets..
