"The more you know, the more you realize you

I thought I knew it all.  I use to beleive in pulling the bar after your hips came through on the snatch and the clean my fist few years in this sport.  My ass was way to high and I was always on my toes. I never use to hit the bar with my hips before I came down to California Strength. I used all arms and no legs and hips. My lifts were slow and un explosive,  Becuase I pulled so long at the top of the lift I “floated” and it took me forever to get under the bar to catch it, therefor I was not able to lift that much weight! These are only a few things I did wrong and thught they were right!  Its funny how you think you know it all when you start making a little bit of progress and you have been lifting in your mind for a long time, but really I didnt know crap.  Coach Glenn Pendlay said it best in a few interveiws. Q- For all the inspiring coaches out there, what is the most important thing you have learned over the last 20 years of your great coaching career?  A -   “The number one thing is the minute  you think you know it all, your an idiot.  The more you know, the more you realize you don’t know.  The more you learn the more you realize you have to leran” - Coach Glenn Pendlay.     Coach could have not said this better and this is what I am really starting to understand about this sport.  I thought I knew it all when I started out, it was eaither my way or the highway.  My technique was the best, my training program was the best, but I keep finding out as time goes on and I venture deeper and deeper into this harsh but great sport that Coach glenn Pendlay could not be more right.  I am understanding that everybody does not look the same when they lift and there is different ways to teach technique and still get the same resluts.  Same with workout programs.  The Chines train much different than the Bulgarians but both Countrys win Gold medals in weightlifting.  I truly beleive that if you take a kid and give him a bad training program but he gives it 100% and beleives in it 100% then he will do great.  If you give that same kid a great training program and he does not beleive in it, than he will do poor.  2012

PeteBauman: that’s great advice from Coach. there is so much info out there and with all the research going on, they are constantly finding new ways to improve on routines and mechanics. it’s important to know what the old school guys learned and teach, but you can never stop learning.
