This article is great. I actually know a weightlifter that is a vegetarian and we tell him all the time that it would help if he ate a little meat here and there. Just because there is such a high risk of being defitiant in something. Like b12 something you can only get in meat i believe or a supplement. Meat has a lot of protein which is also good for athletes.

yeah, in Part 2 you’ll see a list of vegetarian/vegan athletes who are able to be successful at the highest levels of their sports (MLB, NBA, NFL, etc) in spite of their diets. most of the names will shock you.

i’ve never been a proponent of vegetarian diets. we evolved as omnivores, eating both fruit/veggies AND meat. for those people that argue that our bodies run better on a non-meat diet are mistaken, and there is absolutely no research to back that statement up. we need amino acids, and COMPLETE ones at that, to function properly. people probably feel good on a high veggie/fruit diet because of the amount of fiber they get in that diet, as well as the abuncdance of essential vitamins and minerals, but there is nothing about meat, red or white, that is detrimental to our health. our bodies can actually manufacture carbs (glucose) from amino acids, so it isn’t essential to eat carbs, but you can’t say the same thing about amino acids (protein) or the fats that we get from meat sources.

Is being a vegetarian really healthier? i mean you take out a lot of animal fat in your diet. But you can still eat sugar and stuff like that. Plus you lose out on a lot of iron and proteins.
