“there are all sorts of nasty compounds in plastics that can lead to all sorts of nasty health defects.

The water may sit in these bottles for years, be transported over great distances and go through countless variations in temperature, not to mention the possibility of them being exposed to high heat if they end up sitting in the sun.

Plastic is not the most un-reactive of materials, and if you have heard that you shouldn’t reheat foods in plastic containers, just imagine what sitting in a plastic bottle for that amount of time and through that range of conditions can do to the water inside those bottles. “

wow This is crazy! i never thought about the dangers of drinking water from a plastic bottle. I am sure those bottles sit in 100 degree heat for a LONG period of time!!

I will think twice about buying a bottle of water..i guess it is safer adn cheaper to buy a brita filter.

I know you recommend buying water in glass bottles but that is super expensive?

“I recommend searching out artesian, mineral or spring varieties of water, and ideally those bottled in un-reactive glass bottles instead of plastic”

Thanks for your recommendations… i really had no idea there was a difference!

this is what i find craziest about the whole bottled vs tap water debate. people are so conscious about the plastic that goes into their reusable bottles, such as their nalgene/camelbak or sigg bottles, and they freak out when they drink water from those that has only been sitting in there for a couple days, but then they are perfectly fine drinking water from cheap plastic bottles that are months (or even years) old? i know they are different types of plastics, but if there are dangerous compounds in the permanent reusable plastics, what do you think is in the cheap disposable ones?

It’s crazy!! I guess people associate a new looking bottle as safe…

Plus… most people don’t know the dangers of water bought in plastic bottles…

They don’t teach this in school… heck i don’t’ even know if most teachers are aware of this danger…

In the publics eyes, they see a clean new, good tasting water that is sealed.  They don’t think about how old the bottle is or how long it was sitting in the heat for…

SCArY STUFF!
