First off, I’d like to congratulate the City of New Orleans and the Saints on their Super Bowl XLIV victory. It is quite an accomplishment for a city that has never won a profe…

Real Men Drink Wine
Why do most men feel that drinking wine is feminine?
To be honest with you, I think men who drink wine are sophisticated, classy, mature, and confident.
I love wine!!! I treat myself to a few glasses every weekend. There is nothing better then a good meal, a glass of wine and good company.
Of course drinking alcohol has it negatives, however if you were to drink, why not drink something that is good for you….
I like both red and white wine. My preference depends on my mood, meal, and temperature. However, I usually go for a Pinot Noir
My two favorite red wines are Mirassou Pinot Noir and D’autrefois Pinot Nior…
My favorite white wines are Cavit Pinot Grigio, (it has a dry, light and crisp taste) and Stags Leap Chardonnay,
I don’t like oak tasting wines at all.
What are your favorite wines??? I am always looking to try different wine…

Hear that guys, the female opinion! Drink more wine.
I am a huge fan of wine too, but I usually drink reds. I love bargain hunting at the local grocery stores for good quality wines on sale and I’ve always got 10-12 bottles in storage.
One thing I didn’t mention in the artcle was that both red and white wines have the polyphenols that give the health benefits, but red has significantly more of them. The process for producing white wines remove the seeds and skins of the grapes, where the resveratrol is found in the grapes, much earlier than the reds so they have less time to build up the good stuff.

Gymclass… I totally agree with you!! There is nothing sexier then a man who knows his wine…
My favorite day of the week is Friday when my bf and I cook a delicious meal, share a bottle of wine, and watch a new movie…
Jesterno.. I was not implying that men who drink beer show no class or sophistication. I was implying that men should not feel “feminine” if they drink wine.
And yes, beer does usually lead to binge drinking. I find that when I drink a glass of wine, I take my time and savor every sip. I personally find wine to be relaxing, calming, and great in social gatherings…
I have just started to drink wine, because my wife and daughter did not want me drinking beer and I wanted to trim fat.
I do not like the taste of wine, but I have gotten use to just having a glass of red wine at night with my dinner.
I do get to go out to dinner at least one night a week with the family and have a glass of beer:(
I’m getting use to eat and I was drinking way to much beer before when I was buying it and storing it in the house. Plus it was dark beer, I love the taste. Now grilling out side will not be the same.

In most cases people get use to the taste.
At first I hated the taste of wine. I would only drink the girly mixed cocktails. Once I experimented with different wines I grew to absolutely love it.
You have to find one you really like… Try different reds and whites. It took me a while to acquire a taste for reds and now that is pretty much my drink of choice.
Not all wines are the same!!!
Happy grilling!
Wow… over the past year i really developed a passion for wine… Now i have a new list of wine that i absolutely LOVE!!

Kodiak, the thing with wine is that not only do you usually get what you pay for, but everyone has different tastes when it comes to wine, even more than with food.
the chemical compounds that are created in the growing and fermentation process have varying tastes that are associated with different flavors, for example compounds that are similar to pepper, or licorice, or berries. the funny thing is that in most cases every single person will taste something different when they all try the same wine. if you go to a wine tasting and ask around what each person tastes when they try a certain wine, you likely won’t get the same answer.
it’s easy to find decent wines in the $5-15 range and i wouldn’t recommend settling for the two buck chuck just to get your wine on. spend the extra little bit and try different wines and you’re bound to find some that you actually like, as well as develop an appreciation for the variety and complexity of wine flavors.

Pete… you know every thing about everything… How?
What do you do… read the Encyclopedia in your free time… How do you even retain all this info…? I literally read something and forget it within hours… you are like a walking genus
Anyway… What is your favorite wine (Type, Company, location, flavor?)

well, any carb source the night before a competition/training session is gonna help because of the whole “carb loading” aspect which replenishes your glycogen stores and will give your muscles more energy. wine and most alcoholic beverages have a ton of sugar/carbs, so as long as you don’t go overboard on the drinks there should be some benefit. would i recommend it as a regular tool to improve performance? probably not.
with fitness/bodybuilding competitions, there might also be some benefit from the dehydration effects caused by the alcohol since it might tighten your skin a little and make your muscles show, but again this is minimal and i wouldn’t rely on this to get your results when you should’ve already put in the work to get where you need to be.

I agree… you should not rely on “wine” the day before your comp to see results… There are far more superior carb sources to choose from…
I always thought alcohol stops fat burning because your liver is working to get rid of toxins… Why would anyone want to stop fat burning especially before their big day?
I understand the dehydrating effect but can’t you do that with water depleting?

Personally I like a good Cabernet Sauvignon, and often tend towards the younger variety because of the stronger tannins. I also, for some reason tend to enjoy the west coast varieties more than any other…
One good wine that comes to mind is the 2000 Walla Walla Valley Cab from L’Ecole No. 41 in Lowden, WA. Very earthy and lots of oak without being over powering. Definately a wine for steak or prime rib. Also good with dark chocolate. In fact, its very, very good with dark chocolate.

Was it the 2005 variety? I think thats the youngest one available. Not bad but a maybe a bit too “fruity” for me.
