I loved learning the history of the avocado… soooo interesting!

“Avocados are toxic to many domesticated animals such as dogs, cats, fish and horses, and they are one of the only fruits that don’t ripen if left unpicked on the tree. This is due to a hormone that is released from the leaves of the plant that inhibits the gas ethylene from causing the fruit to ripen”

“or a long time it was believed that avocados were sexually stimulating aphrodisiacs and shouldn’t be eaten by a person wishing to remain chaste”

“Avocados are also one of the single greatest sources of fiber, both soluble and insoluble, packing as much as 17 grams in a single avocado!”

I know avocados are a super healthy fat but i had no clue they had this much fiber??  Does this make a difference in the calorie count of this fruit??

“One thing you will want to note is that while the Florida variety of avocados are typically larger and less costly than California grown, the Florida-based crop contain only 2/3 the calories, half the fat and carbohydrates, and are usually less flavorful than the California kind”

NO WAY!! I had no idea!!!  I know the California kind taste better … now i know why!!!

haha, he didn’t say he doesn’t like guacamole, he said he doesn’t like avocados. and before you say it’s the same thing, i know plenty of people that hate tomatoes and like ketchup.

it’s quite possible he hates guacamole too, but don’t assume that unless he says so.
