Wow!! If i didn’t love my oatmeal in the morning i would definitely try the keto diet…

This statement convinces me enough!!

As with the Paleo Diet, proponents of the Keto Diet claim that by eliminating carbohydrates, which we did not evolve and are not biochemically wired to process, you can reset the metabolic functioning of your body to process fat for fuel instead of glucose.”

Fat is the body’s primary and preferred source of energy over glucose, contrary to what we have been taught to believe for decades.”

“Eating only fat and protein (which stimulate more release of the satiety hormone PYY), helps to improve appetite control”

Thx I really appreciate that. Well Daily meals kinda vary so its hard to lay down a pattern but eggs (early in the day whole with meat , later in the day whites with fish) Green Veggies like Green beans, Asparagus, Brussel Sprouts, Spinach always steamed or sauteed. The only grains I eat are Sprouted,  Bread from Alpine Valley Sprouted honey flax. I use the Visalus Body By vi shake with Almond milk (no cows milk ever), light Roast Coffee (only light Roast, for the amazing antioxidants in the Coffee bean)
My Fats come from egg yolks,  high amounts of Organic Mayonaise, Smoked Herring, Salmon, Sunflower seed Butter (dont do PB anymore) Raw Almonds, lots of Tuna, Sardines Tilapia, Salmon canned or packeged, frozen filets when affordable, turkey,Beef patties on training days, lots of Liver (I love liver & Onions lol) Not alot of Fruits though, berries when I alow carbs.
Supplements are currently Infinite Labs Juggernaut, MassPort, CarnoCre, Kirkland 1000 mg Fish Oil, Kirkland 600mg Calcium D3, every 3 days an Iron b12 supplement, Vanadly Sulfate caps anytime I eat Carbs and thats it.
The MassPort I really love as a post w/o

Thank you for that. Well yes of course we all struggle to maintain a Disciplined lifestyle and I am no different. The key is the Motivation level, my whole life is devoted to one Attainable goal. Every time I feel like going off track I think abot that one thing that has burned in my Heart for my whole lifetime to be called an Athlete. Cheat days are once every 6 or 7 days because, Your Hormones need to be fed. It usually takes 6 to 7 days for The Fat Burning Hormone liptin to see it fall enough to start to slow your metabolism, by having a Cheat day and increasing your Calories you throw your Metabolism back into high speed.  I will again throw out my belief in Nutrient Timing a& Nutient Combinations, When you do add Carbs into a Meal it needs to be a Carb centri Meal with meium Protien ( no Fats), during your Fat Centric Meals thier should be no Carbs. Carbs cause the storage hormone insulin to be released.  Fat ingestion leads to large amounts of fatty acids in the blood. Fatty Acids combined with Insulin cause fat storage.
Now of Course You cannot totally avoid Carbs but you can keep them under 10 gr which will not be an issue.

Great point!  I dont mix carbs and fats together..

For example  I eat oatmeal in the morning mixed with egg whites and some berries however i don’t’ add any fats into that meal (its my post workout meal) I know you are against oatmeal but i LOVE my protein  pancakes!!!

When you have a cheat day what kind of cheat foods do you eat? Do you go all out?

Also do you cheat all day or just one meal?

Okay I am not totally against Oatmeal just for me I will not use it, the research is solid on both Pro & Con sides so I say if it works for you use it, if you havedigestion or stomach problems look to the intake of Grains. Post w/o with egg whites is Nutritionally sound & solid. Those Protien Pancakes sound good, I am known to make them on occasion lol.
As for Cheat meals I alternate my favs Burgers at Rocket Burger (local Favorite of mine, they blow all of them away except Ruby Tuesdays lol) & my Major Weakness Mexican Food, sometimes Pizza and the occasional Carb / Grain splurge at IHOP. When I Cheat I Cheat lol.
Sometimes depending on How I feel my Body has ben performing I will cheat the whole day.
Jeez Really Glad this discussion has continued with us and hope someone else see’s it and joins. This is the type of info that we need to get out to everyone, especially those who have thier Dietary concepts inside a box.

I like your approach.. I agree with cheat meals as well..

On Friday night i might have a glass of wine and go out to dinner but try to eat semi clean.

Saturday I like to enjoy a cheat meal with some cheese, semi healthy entrée, wine, and some dessert.. nothing to crazy.

However.. I notices when I drink a few glasses of wine EVERY weekend it really stalls my fat burning process…i am more in maintance mode then fat burning mode which stinks..  i love my wine though… i know people who can enjoy a nice glass of wine every night! And not gain a single pound!!! I feel like our (bodybuilders) bodies are so sensitive..

Haha you cheat meals sound awesome!! Ihop?? Burgers?? You go all out huh!

I am more then happy with a few pieces of cheese, pita chips, wine, grilled veggies and a yummy piece of fish or steak! That’s my ideal cheat meal!

Hi Pete, Well I have been interested in Natural based Nutrition, Since HS (based on what we were taught how Major Corporations were adding preservatives ect to our food, Plus I always believed biblically we should stay as close to nature as Possible. This sparked my intrerest in Performance Nutrition). Later as I got into my 30’s I started looking at how Food(nutrition) impacts the Hormones.  Then When Adkins came around with Low Carb, I had at that time been cycling my Carb intake initially I was against ttal Low to zero Carb dieting, but then I discovered some interesting things about Carbs and Fats and how they impact your bodies systems and thats what brings us to today and the Mix of keto and Paleo based eating. Thru Experimenting on myself Bulking up then using idea’s to cut back down I found keys that worked best for me. Now I change up my eating habits constantly. As an example sunday, Mon & Tuesday were based on Intermitten Fasting Limited Carbs Fats & Protien, where I did not eat a solid meal till 3 or 4 pm then ate every 2 hrs till midnight. Now during those early hra I used Mayo, Raw Almonds, & Sunflower Butter to provide fat based Cals for my body as this forceed Fat usage. Today this has been my day- 5 am wake up - weigh in 170.2
24 oz water, 1 scoop MassPort & 1scoop CarnoCre, 1 fish oil cap, 1 Calcium D3 cap .
6:30 am r- Turkey patty & 2 egg whites 2 whole, 1 Avocado, 16 Raw Almonds, Fish Oil, potassium cap & magnesium cap.
10:45 - Visalus Shake w/ Coffee
nothing but some walnuts till 2:30 when I had a 80/20 gbeef patty, 1 whole egg, 1 egg white, 2 cups sauteed Spinach 2 fish Oil caps, Calcium D3 cap. Next will be a lean light meal of Tilapia and a green vegt, finish with 6 oz Tuna with Natural mayo and Bed. Not exxactly tipical but close to my daily routine. I have the Ground Beef on Rest days to allow full digestion befre training the nwexxt day, on training days its Turkey patties. Fish & Tuna & Eggs everyday. Thats about it, I hope that helps.

Lol, ya we need to be concerned, but I love my Wine as well. I get Organic Reds from Trader Joes really inexpensive (I never spend more than 6.00 on Wine lol) The organics are clean so The Antioxxidant and other health benefits outway the Alcohol issue, but you are right to much and the Alcohol shuts down your fat burning mechanism for upto 36 hrs after. its important for us to be aware of that when we drink.

Wow, that sounds really intense. It sounds like a ton of work to be constantly changing your diet like that. What did you mean by the point about biblically staying as close to nature as possible? I’ve never heard anyone talk about that before.

It really sounds like you’ve been through the gamut of trying different diets. A lot of people try all those different things but end up frustrated and just give up before they find what works for them, it’s impressive that you have really stuck to your guns this long! ^_^

you definitely have more discipline and willpower than i have.

i really hope that you weren’t eating that mayo, sunflower butter and almonds together, or for that matter that you weren’t eating that mayo by itself by the spoonful, haha.

Great point about buying organic wine, I am a HUGE fan of trader joes however my trader joes does not sell wine. I will look into researching other organic wines..

How many glasses of wine in one sitting would your consider ideal??

What type of food shoudl  you eat when drinking wine?

Also, i agree with Nuwanee, your diet is intense! I guess if you figure out a plan and stay consistent with it,  It becomes routine…
I go food shopping ever Friday and cook everything on Sunday… I already have my meal plan set for his whole week so there is no thinking involved…

HOWEVER! Your meal plan looks sooo intense.. I give you a lot of credit. I don’t think i would be able to “fast” like that and do all low carb days.

What time do you workout??

Do  you do all the cooking?

Not all together but at different times. Actually with the Mayo yes, it sounds worse than it is. Organic all natural Mayo actually tastes good and I do a tbsp a couple times a day to kick up my fat intake and especially mid Training session to provide quick usable fuel for my weight training.

Depends. On friday cheats I have been known toreact to a ruff week by drinking the bottle lol, but that ids vary rare (I am human lol).
As the Italians and others say Wine really does go with all foods.
Its as hard or harder to plan ahead as you do Laura and get everything cooked ahead of time. That in itself is impressive my friend.
weight training is mostly mid day, except monday when I hit Deadlifts early then Delts / Shoulders in the Afternoon.
Mostly except the weekends as I work from home its easier, Crystal works away from home so I take those houshold duties away from her. She has learned to cook cajun and ethnic foods I like with a more Paleo and healthy way so I can still have my favorites
Soon when things calm down a bit and I have more time I will post some of our recipes and those meals I love for you guys

its kind of hard to just stop and one glass, this is my biggest down fall ONLY on the weekends..

i fell a victim of that this weekend! I really wish the Italian saying was true…

Wow i can’t wait to see some of your yummy Palo ethnic recipes… that sound fantastic!!! I am really big into cooking healthy creative meals

When you have the chance definitely post them…

Are you a personal trainer??

Does your wife follow your healthy eating habits??
