i love the grapes of wrath. i actually just found the most amazing winery up in murphys, ca (not napa!) and i joined their wine club. its amazing all the different flavors and textures you can get with wine, and what’s not to like? it’s got great health benefits as outlined here in the article, it can taste incredible, and it gets you buzzed/drunk if you want to drink that much. sounds like a win-win to me!

Oh boy this is my weakness all summer… i cant handle an open bottle of wine… i am better off paying for portion control at restaurants… I LOVE malbecs and cabs! Which one is a hardier wine??

This weekend i had a bottle of malbec gascon (amazing) I then had a sip pinot noir… I literally had to spit it out because i noticed the taste difference like never before… It had this oaky taste which is strange because i never noticed it.. I use to LOVE pinot noirs.. is amazing how our taste buds change

“According to a Persian fairy tale, a princess discovered wine while trying to poison herself, and in the process found out about the intoxicating effects of the drink, thus leading her to have a happy life instead of the droll royal palace life she was originally trying to escape”

WOW I love this Persian princess!! But i would call her an alcoholic lol… Did they have alcoholic’s anonymous back then lol…?

“It is such a powerful polyphenol that it has shown to be an anti-aging agent”

How much wine do you have to drink to actually benefit the effects?  This does not sound too bad to me!!! WATER of youth!

“There are also arguments that responsible drinking can help to relieve stress, which outweighs the damage that can be done to the body by consuming alcohol. However, I can’t stress enough that that only pertains to low to moderate consumption and that is a very fine line to walk between drinking moderately and going a little overboard.”

That very fine line is VERY easy to cross… Its like giving a child a whole candy bar… just one glass is tough to portion control especially in a social gathering… 1 glass is considered about 3 oz which people do not realize…

I would love to have a glass of wine howver…if you are trying to lose fat i don’t see how this can help your goals (having a serving a day)…

There is a lot of sugar in wine… I am not doubting the health benefits though??

one glass of wine per day is plenty to see the benefits of resveratrol, but you can also find supplements in capsule/pill form to take if you want to really make sure you are getting enough.

i heard something interesting this weekend while getting a tour of a winery. they were talking about different types of grapes, and when “petite sirah” came up, they mentioned that they have super rich and concentrated flavor becuase the grapes are smaller and there is a lot more skin used in the processing. since resveratrol comes from the skin of grapes, that likely means that petite sirah varieties contain more resveratrol than other types.

the winery whose club i joined last week is Twisted Oak in Murphys, CA. every wine they make is awesome - everything is some blend of Spanish varietal wines. they are so full of flavor, it was unlike anything i’ve ever seen before. add to that the fact that their owner is fantastic with marketing and is a total goofball and i was hooked. instead of getting a membership card when i signed up, i got a rubber chicken (which i named Sebastian). they have pirate themed parties, and the wording and marketing they do is brilliant and witty.

i really like malbecs, tempranillo, carmenere, and rioja… basically a lot of sultry reds and spanish varieties. i find that they have so much more flavor and aren’t so bitter. i gotta say that i’m much more of a red guy, but i do appreciate whites and my girlfriend pretty much only drinks drier chardonnays.

great article…love me some grapes of wrath too!

honestly not sure there is a wine i’ve ever turned away but on the white side i am a big pinot grigio gal (california’s crawford canyon is great).

as for red i usually go for the merlots (i’m a huge three blind moose fan).
