“One thing to watch out for when purchasing and storing walnuts is whether or not the oils in the nuts have gone rancid. Since walnuts have a ton of polyunsaturated oils in them, they can go bad very quickly. Check the smell and color of walnuts in order to make sure they are still good. If they smell bad, or the meat is yellow instead of white, don’t buy them.”

i’ve been putting a lot of walnuts on my salads lately (along with dried cranberries, feta cheese and raspberry vinaigrette). they really are one of the best snacks, i don’t know why more people don’t eat them.

I would rather eat my nuts as butter in my protein puddings or other healthy desserts..

That sonuds delicious Pete! You might have to make us dinner sometime, haha.

Laura, have you checked your local health foods store for Walnut Butter? I’ve seen it at ours, but then again they have everything under the sun. They have butters made from just about any type of nut you can think of. It is quite tasty and makes for a nice change from peanut or almond butter!

Maybe i didn’t look hard enough! I can always make my own… i think it will taste great though!

I don’t really eat peanut butter anymore… i try to stick with fresh almond butter, i had crushed almonds, sunflower seeds, and a ton of flax seed.. Hahahah i don’t even think it’s a butter like consistency anymore… i love it though
