I don’t care how many sets reps what ever. Some people have monster calves and some have nothing. You may be able to make them a bit bigger and harder but the shape of your calves is pretty predetermined. I seen guys wearing the shoes, trained monster weight, High reps low reps. I have seen people who do nothing and have calves that would make any bodybuilder jealous. I think it definitely has some thing to do with the amount of volume the calves can take and the pounding loads of simply walking around day to day make it incredibly difficult to grow larger calves.

that’s pretty true for the most part. calves tend to be arguably the most stubborn of all muscles on the entire body. they are notorious for not growing no matter what tactics you use. some people have found that high reps work, others have seen results going super super heavy. some people need to combine both. some people don’t see any movement no matter what they do. i think you can definitely work on the definition with focused lifting, and just like any other muscles your calves should respond to a different stimulus, but they are by far the most challenging muscles on almost every person you’ll meet.
