I agree Jared, a lot of girls are totally scared of protein. It isn’t that they are dainty and don’t like being seen as the girl who likes cheeseburgers and beer or anything like that. Some girls are super scared of anything that those roided out guys you see at the gym are gaga over cause they’re scared they’ll end up looking like the mythical She Hulk. It is often a struggle to get girls to eat enough protein, especially if they are on a weight loss plan. It’s nearly impossible to beat it into some of their heads that they need protein if they are going to make lean muscle to burn off that fat!

omg!! hardest tip to get through a womens head… no matter the search, studies, proof and result they think they are the exeption!!! i dont get it!! you are not super women!

You simply do not have the testosterone to build muscle like males do. Many females who achieve the look of males (extremely muscular) supplement with extra testosterone or anabolic steroids in order to assist with their bodybuilding quests. Do you really think it is just because they eat more protein? “

People have a rough time getting the facts. TV is much to blame for  a great deal of confusion.

totally agreed guys. there are so many small myths out there, misconceptions that people can’t get over. girls get huge from lifting weights. bacon and eggs are bad for you. fat makes you fat. the last ones i blame on the government and bad research, and they are far more egregious lies than the first one, but the government is doing little to reverse the notions despite the fact that they have plenty of evidence to the contrary. that is the one that irks me the most.

That is no LIE. When I look at all of the lobbyist groups and the investors. It is just a pathetic circle of confusion and no matter how good the intention things just seem to get covered up in red tape and bureaucracy.

I think it says a lot about how people think about working out or training.

Oh, man I just trained a guy and his wife, wrote up diet plans, workouts…I go to the gym to meet with a different client and I see him and his wife back at the same old routine that wasn’t working for them and I was like …what did you waste your time for!!! and money. If I ask some one to write something up so I can do …whatever I would follow it believe it try it. I will never understand. It doesn’t happen over night. Another one is when will I see results? How hard are you trying?

Ewwwwwwwwww don’t even get me started… that’s why i am happy i am not a trainer anymore… if i were to ever train again i would only train motivated athletes.

For this reason i don’t write up diet or exercise plans for friends anymore… they waste both of our time and my patients… its sooo frustrating… i felt like a broken record was going off.. I am just done with peoples BS…

I like helping fitness minded people… not true beginners who already make excuse before they start there program

I should make a correction. This guy is a powerlifter and very strong. He knew what he was getting into . He knew it was not what he was used to. Just the rep scheme was incredibly taxing for him. I think he thought he could go cold turkey on his previous diet and give up all of his vices….donuts and bottles of mountain dew. He realized it was going to take a bit of time to reduce some of the things he has allowed in his diet. His wife is just untrained and isn’t sure where she is going. She gets a bit intimidated if no one is helping her so I will see her go to where she feels most comfortable..unfortunately it will not help her transformation. There is so much psychology in training people. It becomes a 24hr deal of phone calls and text and I have a day job…family etc….

and.. that is a sign of a true trainer.. you haved to be there for you clients on a pysical and emotional level .. calliing texting emailing and following up with them.. its more work outside of the gym.. you are a good trainer and i am happy to hear we still have some out there…

and changing a powerlifters mind set is veryyy hard because power lifting was his mind set and in his mind a healthy one with goals.. thats a tough one to break.. just a change of lifestyle

Yeah, I agree with Laura too. I have stopped doing favors for friends and family cause they take it for granted. I might give them a discount on services, but I always make sure that they are investing more than just trust when they ask for help. If they are still paying for a plan or for training, they will put more effort in and take both my time and expertise far more seriously than if they are getting everything for free. It is super frustrating, but at least their mind is in the right place and all of my friends and family understand why I do that now.

wow, i don’t know if i could give up donuts and mountain dew cold turkey either, hahaha. i actually had a girlfriend back in the day that was so hooked on dr. pepper that she had to ween herself off of it. if she didn’t have one by about 10am every morning she got a headache and became super grumpy. i do know plenty of people who don’t function well without some coffee in the morning, but that has to be the most extreme case i’ve ever seen.

This guy experienced the exact same thing. Head ache mood in the trash. He said he just couldn’t take it.  He asked me about supping caffiene for weening the Mt. Dew …thoughts ?
