I would NEVER drink soda, sugary sports drinks or juice that isn’t diet or at least reduced sugar!! What a waste of calories.
I would much rather eat food that will fill me up and give me nutrients.. I wouldn’t even drink regular soda on a cheat day, its just plain old dumb…
I don’t understand how people could be addicted to soda or sugary drinks.   I can’t even tell the difference between diet or regular soda, ice tea, juice ect.  What is it that people crave???

When I taught high school chemistry and biology, I taught a section on nutrition, and on the first day I put the kids in groups and gave each group a food scale and small sack of sugar. Then I handed out cans of fruit juice, soda, lemonade, etc, so they could find the sugar content. Then they weighed out the 33g or so of sugar in each one of those drinks. The sound in the room escalated with the “oh my god! That’s only half!” as they measured. It was an eye-opener for all of them.

This experiment should be a requirement in all schools.

When I student taught a high school health class
, I did a lesson on nutrition, fitness and general health. I talked about healthy meal/food alternatives, balanced meal choices, good and bad carbs, proteins and fats, heart disease, health statistics, and the positives outs comes of eating healthy and living a healthy life style..

The kids were blown away, they had no idea that:

-Whole wheat is better then white flour
-Drinking sugary processed drinks could cause weight gain
-Eating 6 smalls meals a day speeds metabolism
-Breakfast is the most important meal of the day
-Fast food is BAD for you …lol
-Drinking water is very important
-They should be eating 3-4 servings of fruits and vegetables a day
-They did not know the difference between good and bad carbs, proteins and fats.  They thought that all fats were equal…
-and sooooooooo much more…

I was actually shocked… I could not believe that they were so oblivious about nutrition and health….

I gave them a project were they had to come up with a meal plan according to their activity level, age, gender, weight and medical background..

It was a very basic meal plan but it was an eye opener!!!
