So it’s bad to do intense cardio in the mornings? I always thought it didn’t matter what type you were doing, that you would burn fat because you didn’t have any food in your stomach. That’s kinda crazy… I’ll admit I’ve never tried this cause I’m super lazy in the mornings. Has anyone else ever tried fasted cardio?

I some times do HIIT cardio in the am on empty stomach… I can’t eat anything before i workout…

I do however take BCAAs before during and after i train…

I am sure it is better to do low intensity cardio but i find it soooo boring.

I have a ton of energy so training on an empty stomach does not affect me.

Is it ok if i just take my BCAA’s??

“Studies have shown that cardio performed in this state can as much as
triple the amount of fat that you are able to access throughout your
body compared to normal resting states!”

this is good info!

Yes Laura, it’s a great idea to take a BCAA supplement right before doing this. Or you can drink a pure whey shake (no carbs). The point is to get some protein in your system to prevent your body breaking down muscle tissue for energy (catablolism), but if you consume any carbs you are going to switch from burning free floating fatty acids to using carbs for energy, so you don’t want to eat any carbs.

Great article.  I started doing cardio in the a.m. before breakfast and it was not long before I saw a difference!  I do usually reserve my HIIT cardio for my afternoon cardio session (if I am doing two a day) and do my steady state in the a.m.  I find it also energizes me to get my morning cardio session in.  I am not a morning person so I hate admitting this!

Do you take any supplements before your “fasted” am session?

When you say you do two sessions a day to do you mean two cardio sessions for cardio and workout sessions?

What do you mean it also energizes you to get your morning cardio session in?? I am not sure what your are referring to??
