DONT ROUND YOUR BACK!

keep the bar close to your body, keep your core tight and chest lifted

Pause at the bottom and make sure your form is spot on.

DO a few warm up set and work your way up to your working set

make sure to fully extend on the way up (core tight shoudlers back,

Laura nailed it I am goin to go ahead and add a few more things.
Before lifting make sure your setup is sqaure feet flat and angled out around 30 degrees and you have your upper back pulled tight with shoulders back before you even grab the Bar. Once you set up as laura said keep your back straight and actualy sit back before begining the lift. Last but not least never look down. Thanks Butch

Thanks for your concern work has been crazy among other things.

Training is going nuts right now. Everyone is performing very very well. With the Clement meet 2 weeks away I am happy to say I may be taking 20-25 of my children to compete. So the first of august look for new videos and storys of many Personal records being broke. And with APF states only a month away this will be a good meet for me to see any problems before the big one.

I have been noticing that when I have been doing squatts after working out my right knee has been starting to bother me. When im laying down at night to go to sleep I can feel a sharp pain at times.
Would that be from not keeping my knees out?

Sounds like your position is incorrect try watching some squat videos. Or reading some articles on westsidebarbell.com. Most people have this problem because of positioning you need to put most of the stress into the hips. stand straight put your feet a little past shoulder with apart turn your feet 15-20 degrees to the outside of your body. Now using light weight set up on the bar head up and sit back with it. a good way to learn the hips is to box squat because it forces you(when done properly) to sit back which causes the hips to fire first to get you back up. there are box squat videos on muscledog.

WADE!! Awesome explanation!!!! My knee sometimes bothers me but it goes away… I think it’s from sprinting or not warming up properly… i feel it most when i do backward barbell lunges…

Thanks for the tips… You have to be really careful with your knee… it could be soooo many different things… bad form, tight or weak hamstrings, tight or week back. Weak or undeveloped quads… ect…

Just make sure you are warmed up and take and take your time working to towards your working set…
