There are 2 main variables here. #1 is Endurance. You have got to increase your endurance. #2 is your Power. You mus tbe able to row farther with one single pull eventually to be faster! You can increase your endurance by…well, rowing more! Haha yes! You must have specific workouts for rowing. In terms of your power you have to get more explosive with your hips! Squats, power cleans, snatches, rows, and those sorts of lifts can help tremendously. Front squats are tremendous too. But, you must do them in an explosive manner! It is all about increasing your ENDURNACE and POWER. Being able to exert more force per pull and to be able to go longer are what you need to get faster!

Rowing is a great exercise. The best way to work on your speed is perform intervals, monitor your average 500 meter pace time, and work on your form. Concept 2is the king of rowing machines and probably supply the bulk on them on the market. Hit their website at http://www.concept2.com/ for all the info you could ever desire on rowing
One of my personal favorites to end a strength workout is to perform 4 sets of the following interal
2 minutes off (comfortable pace) then 1 minute all out
after the fourth set I then stay on and cool down with a couple of minutes of light rowing.
It’s short but really challenges me.
Good luck!
