What have you heard and why on limiting the length of workouts.
Personally I have been taught that for size and strength training sessions should not extend past 1 hour and 48-72 hours between repeating body parts. This is largely due to the body’s production of cortissol limiting the production as I understand can have a desired mass and strength building effect on the body.
When I again became involved in strength training my mentor Big John Bailey shaved an hour off my training sessions. When he told me the length of my workouts was to long I was extremely confused but listened intently to the lesson being taught and practiced his advice religously. And to my suprise went from a 365 bench to 405 in less than 3 months time. deadlift and squat followed the same pattern. We (Butch’s barbell team) accomplish this time limit by working as fast and as hard as possible limiting rest between sets to usually under 45 >seconds My training partner and I usually run rught around 20-25 seconds.
What are your thoughts on this method and what have you been taught about cortissol limiting.
Thanks
Butch
