So lately I have been going to Cryotherapy. Cryotherapy is new to the United States. There are only three of them in the whole United States. The way it works is they have both localized and full body treatments. They expose you to extreme cold to help with imflamation, pain, and spasms. IT has done wonders for me. I use to try ice baths but it never helped with the inflammation in my legs.
Has anyone ever tried Cryotherapy? If so what did you think?
Does anyone else have good recovery methods?

Wow, that is really interesting. I Did some research on it and I Cannot believe how much it would help athletes! I mean, there really is not another better recovery method out there. How close to the gym is it? how expensive is it for you guys Rob?

EEK! I can’t stand being in cold places. I’m tiny and hate being cold. I don’t think I could stand it… This sounds like something out of a science fiction movie! ^_^

From what I have heard it REALLY helps peoples legs recover after hard squat training. I have never done it but find it extremely intriguing for recovery.

it’s similar to using a cold tub, but just way way colder. sitting in the cold slows down your circulation, then when you get back out and your body works to warm itself back up, it flushes a ton of blood into your muscles and superspeeds your circulation, which helps to clean out toxins and pump a ton of nutrients and blood into your muscles. this is definitely another technique that helps to improve recovery. whether or not it is that much more effective than sitting in a cold tub, and whether it is worth the extra cost i don’t know, but all the reports i’ve heard are good and it sounds like it makes the boys feel better than the simple cold tubs. a cold tub is probably a way better option for every day, or weekly maintenance, but popping in once in a while for the cryotherapy probably helps.

the other thing is that a weekend warrior probably doesn’t need treatments like this, but for an elite athlete that is tearing their body apart training, it probably makes a huge difference.

Pete, I think that last sentence is the most important. I think it is for people who are extreme athletes looking to gain that .01% performance advantage.

Other countries methods always seem extreme to us. But, they also kick out butts in weightlifting - so maybe there is something to it lol!

why would you say its dumb?  no ill effects, and adn research suggests that it increases testosterone production.  how is that dumb if you are a strength athlete?

it will help with recovery .01% .. to do something sooooo extreme for recovery when there are other options that work 100%.. why waste your time with something that only works .01%..

Rob I hear some of the guys talking about this, why don’t you just do an icebath? it’s pretty much the same and will save you the drive.
