During our tapering we still single up to our heavy weights but after we single all the waqy up, we do drop sets at a lighter weight for triples or even more. We also increase our squat workouts. The first week is the hardest. Then we take things out each week

I know your workouts are super intense and this might be a stupid question but do you guys ever do traditional cardio like running or walking on a treadmil??
no, no running, no treadmil. I would be very upset if I saw one of them doing that. Jon does do a few jumpropes, like 30 seconds or so, sometimes to help him warm up.
very true, that makes sense..
Hiit is working a different energy system however it doesnt benefit thier goals..
Most athletes train different energy systems in order to shock their body.. why does this not apply to olympic lifters??

Most athletes are in sports that use a variety of energy systems. This applies toi any team sport. Some sports, like the long jump or the discus or weightlifting, primarily require ONE physical quality/energy system… and in those sports, training is usually very specific.
I will take your word! you are the man in this sport..
I could not imagine doing the same thing every day though.. I know you guys have different lifts but its pretty put the same thing ..
I guess you really have to love the sport..

You really have to have specific goals. You, as far as I know, mainly want to look better naked, or something like that. If, however, your main goal, your only goal, was to lift more weight over your head, then you would probably want to lift weight over your head every time you came in the gym.

Its a different body type then bodybuilders and figure girls
Have you seen Rob?
Also… personally I think genetics has more to do with how you end up looking than anything else. For instance, Spencer and Rob train the same way, lol.
I know I see Rob eating pizza immediately before his workout about 2-3 days per week, and the other days its tacos or something haha. Same thing with Jon- he eats quite a bit of fast food, taco bell, etc. However, they do SO much training at such high intensities and high volume, they their body just sucks up all the calories. I personally have to watch what I eat because I have a pretty slow metabolism. I gain weight very easily.

They can have a less strict diet because they train harder than everyone else…that’s why they’re the exception! They’re training 5 or so hours a day on MWF, and 3 on T, TH, SAT. Most other people are in the gym for 1-2 hours, 3-4 days per week. IT’s just not even close to the work these guys put in.

Even Jared is starting to lean up… I think he has lost roughly 8lbs or so since he got here (is that about right Jared?)… so he might have to start eating more to maintain bodyweight. Unless he wants to get skinny and go to 85kg that is!
Now Glenn why are trying to convince Jared to go to the 85kg class. Then he has to go against me and then he wouldnt have no shot at winning. haha jk Jared your the man.
Oh ya Jared weighs like 98kg Glenn he not going to be an 85 anytime soon.

Jared was 94.9 the other day… but yes he will be 94 for the time being, going down to 85 is just a possible idea for the future. I have no doubt that if that did happen, by the time it did, you would give him one hell of a fight.
