When do you ladies begin to sodium deplete for you competition and how do you go about doing it.  DO you sodium overload first??
I would love to learn different approaches about this… I hear so many different philosophies and I am trying to figure out the most successful approach.

Thanks…

My body is extremely sensative to sodium! For my first show I actually did a sodium load and then dropped the levels drastically… Basically I allowed myself ketchup with the meals of my pre-contest diet that had chicken in them (aprox 3 meals by the last 6 weeks had chicken in them).  two weeks before my show I halved the sodium (ketchup) and the last week I got rid of it completely.  However, it is important that when you deplete sodium you alter your water because as you have sodium you hold water.  I tapered my water down in accordance with the sodium..
One week is the main depletion basically… I’m sure everyone is different.  This made such a difference in my body that I am going to cut ketchup out completely the last 8 weeks because I feel I did not get to see my hard work until the final weeks!!
I lost about ten pounds the last five days when I had no ketchup at all!! crazy

That is crazy… The little minor details make such a difference.  That is why I don’t go crazy weighing myself everyday.  I could seriously gain 5-6 pounds in one day due to water weight.
Maybe it would be a good idea to keep your sodium levels higher (ketchup) because it will cause a bigger shock to your body when you take it away???  However, I am sure you want to see your hard work sooner rather then the last week prepping for your show…
What does your pre contest diet look like right now?? Are your carb cycling?
