I have always heard “don’t eat past 9, 10 PM.
Well we all know that is hard to do with a very busy lifestyle…
Is it true eating past that hour . (going to bed shortly after) will cause your food to turn into fat?
Would love to know what really is true.
Thanks.

It is not true that if you eat late it turns into fat. Calories taken in late at night are metabolized at the same rate of calories taken in during the day. You gain weight by taking in a ton of calories. People tend to believe that you gain weight if you eat late because majority of people that tend to eat late choose foods that arent as healthy. They choose a bag of chips over having a cooked meal because its fast.

i think your be ok as long as your not eating a ton of it. Peanut butter has a lot of added sugar in it. So having too much is bad but if your having a couple pieces you should be fine.

actually the studies that demonstrated that eating late leads to more fat didn’t account for the fact that people who eat late also tend to eat more calories in general/frequently. it isn’t bad for you, and eating late should be given the same rules as any other meal throughout the day.

the one caveat is that our bodies process carbs more efficiently in the morning than later in the day, so if you are going to eat a late night snack maybe try to avoid the carbs, but that might be the one exception.

Pete why does our bodies process carbs faster in the morning then in the afternoon? Why isnt this the same for proteins or anything else?
