Women do not need protein as much as the amount needed by men. Especially if you are not working out on a regular basis, there is no need to tie your protein intake to that of men. Women who are into working out need more or less 1 gram of protein to every 1 pound in their weight. So if a woman weighs 130 pounds, she needs to consume about 130 grams of protein. Those who are not working out only need a lower dose. People who are working out and do not pack on enough protein are faced with the tendency of losing lean muscle mass and decreasing metabolism.
