If you goal is to build lean muscle mass and lose fat which workout is better and why?

A short intense workout for 30-45 minutes or 1 hour?

How many days a week?

that’s a rather complicated question and there are a lot more variables than just time and frequency. it depends on what you are doing for exercise, what you are eating, etc.

the short answer i would give is a short (20-30 minutes) HIIT session, but that doesn’t necessarily encompass all that much building of lean muscle mass.

Well there has to be a generic formula for training to lose fat and building lean muscle mass especially for women…

I would say 45 minutes of weight training, high intensity, less rest, compound exercise, super sets, rep ranges between 8-12 is key… of course this goes hand and hand with a healthy nutritional diet and additional HIIT..

I am not saying this works for everyone’s goal but it a pretty generic guide line to start off with . you don’t think so?

i’m saying what works for one person might not (probably won’t) work for another person. yes, that sounds okay for a “generic plan to lose fat and build lean muscle mass”, but there are so many variables that differ from person to person that it’s pretty much impossible to come up with one plan that will work for everyone. that’s like trying to create a diet that is gonna do the same thing for everyone. you can’t. i guess that’s as good as anything else you can try to come up with, but not everyone is gonna respond to that.

and why would you go with the shorter workouts instead of the longer ones?

i know it wont work for everyone.. i am WELL aware of that.. i just have 45-50 mintutes to workout in the morning and i am sure other have the same problem however you can make it work to your benefit by training HARD INTENSE and FAST.. peopel always say they never have time to workout.. In 45 min. you can actaully have a better workout (if your goal is to lose fat and build lean uscle) but everyone is different however its a good point to view

so you think the shorter workout is more effective because more people will comply and actually do the workout with the time excuse?

I am not saying tht this will make people more apt to train.. its great for peopel who are serious about training and know the definition of an intese workout..

in my case since i lack time it works perfect… read bellow

from charles poliquin.. it makes sence..

“Lesson #3: Train Hard, Heavy and Fast

Abadjiev believed that to train at the highest intensities, training sessions must be brief. He believes that in training sessions, testosterone levels peak after about 15 minutes of training and begin to level off after another 30-45 minutes.

Thus, to achieve the highest quality of training, his workout sessions lasted about 45 minutes each.
With those shorter workouts, to achieve the volume of training necessary to create continual progress, his athletes had to perform multiple training sessions per week. A typical Bulgarian schedule for a single training day might be designed as follows”

quoting abadjiev is risky business. he may have coached more olympic champions than anyone else in history, but his athletes and system are heavily reliant on steroids to be successful. his beliefs about hormones might very well be correct, but you also have to consider the amounts and style of training that these guys do, which is far more weight and volume than any normal person is suited to do.
