Has anyone out there tried taking a Zumba class? I’ve heard it’s fun and makes for a killer workout. Anyone have an opinion on whether or not to try it?

Thanks! ^_^

I know the women in my gym love it… I personality would not use it as a form of working out or cardio, however,

I would “maybe” try it for fun as a light activity…

I think its great for women that never workout and need the extra motivation to workout and move…

I would rather just go to a dance club!!!  It seems kind of corny!!

Does your gym offer a class or have you just talked with women who love it?

I love dancing so I figured it would be fun. I would think it would be similar to one of those step aerobics classes where you can’t actually use it for any type of goals or really beneficial cardio, but it’s a great way to get your heart rate up and have some fun at the same time.

the infommerials are super corny, but i’ve gotta admit that i’d let those spandex-clad salsa-dancing babes beat me with those sticks any time they want to =oP

I did Zumba today!! I do it for fun more than counting it towards cardio though.  What you get out of the class is only equal to what you put in.  If you give it your all and really keep moving you will sweat.  I’m going to wear my heart monitor next class (tuesday) to see how many calories I burn during an hour class.  I did Zumba today right after my shoulder workout then did boxing.  I find Zumba fun and it’s my way to keep things interesting at the gym.  I use boxing as HIIT cardio because it is a class based on burst of high intensity technical punches and cardio then rest periods.

Hey Jena! I like your style… You have to make fitness fun… if it works for you and gets you motivated to workout hard then I am all for it..

Personally, I don’t think Zumba would be challenging enough for me.  If I had the extra time I would “maybe” give zumba a try.

I make every workout count and make sure I leave the gym without an ounce more left in me.. I don’t think Zumba would give me that intense feeling i am looking for.. I would be curious to know how high you get your heart rate and how may calories you burn.. Keep us posted..
