I usually start cutting 16 weeks out from competition. I start cycling my carbs - three days low, no more than 30g, and the 4th day high - about 60 g. Depending on how my body responds, I would then cut it to 3 days no carbs, 4th day 25-30g. I would usualy go totally no carb about 4 weeks out, which helps me dry out and lean out, together with the additional cardio. Even without the carbs, I tend to stay fairly full once I keep up my protein, so I don’t usually need to carb-load before the show.
