Squats

Did my squats last night with my trainer, as part of our leg workout.
I did:
185lbs - 8 reps
Felt good so I kept upping it:
205lbs - 12 reps
255lbs - 12 reps
275lbs - 8 reps
300lbs - 12 reps
300lbs -4 reps
300lbs - 4 reps
300lbs - 4 reps

Can’t believe I made it to 300lbs. Friggin amped.

Awesome job!

Today was leg day for me…I accomplished  12 reps / 4 Sets.  Will push myself further the next time.

 Nice.

What is the weight you were working with?

And thats some good ethic! Thats the way I work out. I’ll be happy with what I do, but next time I need to do more. My sights will always be one step further.

nicely done zero!

you said you’re stoked to hit 300, but looks like you’re a pretty big boy. have you found anything in particular in the past that you’ve felt has held you back?

I just didn’t think i could do it.
I’ve always been kind of a big dude. Working i kitchens kinda makes you graze all day. So it leads to a bad body shape, to say the least. So it didn’t really give me much confidence in my abilities when it comes to working out. Plus, I never really had anyone to push me. I would work out by myself and quit when it got uncomfortable. Now I have a trainer that busts my balls when I need it, and just having someone else THERE makes me want to push harder, and dig for it.

I’m finally coming to grips with my abilities. I’m finding out where I excell and where I am lacking, by just pushing through what is uncomfortable and seeing what I can actually do. I did squats last week, and got used to the feel, and worked on my form. Yesterday I just went for it. I did a set, and felt good about it, so I piled on more and more.

I’m feeling good about how I am progressing. I decided to start losing weight about a year ago, when i realized i weighed 345 pounds. With muscle gained, I’m down to 270 and feeling good about it. So with that progress is more confidence. I won’t be happy until I am down to about 16% body fat, so I can enlist.

sounds great man. that’s a crapload of weight you’ve lost and changing your body makeup is a great place to focus.

it’s great that you’ve found a good trainer who can push you and help you do things you’ve never thought possible. it’s things like this that i live for and one of the reasons that i train and coach kids. thanks for sharing buddy, and good luck with reaching that 16%!

Thanks for the support, man.

what are you training for?   Do you guys ever do one rep max?

I’m not really going for competitions.

I started losing weight and weight training to help me get through basic when i enlist.

What is one rep max?

I would maybe try to get up past 300 closer to 330 for some triples if you can, this looks like the right amount of weight to make you really work hard. congrats on the 300 though
