MAN! I train at a ton of gyms because I travel a lot. My job puts me all over Oregon, Washington and Alaska. I mostly train at 24HR and LA Fitness centers. They work for the most part as LA lets my in for free and 24HR has comped me for any club for the last few years.

I go to several private gyms as well and they are great to as I can let my hair down and not be concerned about heavy workouts bringing attention to me.

The “clubs” are filled with “Newbies” and “cardio bunnies” and you train with any intensity, you get “THE STARE!!!!” OOooooooo….

Now i don’t scream or swear loudly, yet I do grunt a little loud at times. I’m respectful of equipment and members. Yet, when I do push the steal hard, again I get, “THE STARE”!!! …

I don’t “STARE” back or do anything at them. I just train hard. With intensity and consistency.

Hey Popps!

We have something in common.. I let out a little grunt, make mean scary faces on my last few reps, and work to my fullest capacity.  I get the STARES all the time.

I have learned to ignore them.  People are not looking at me because they think I am weird, they are staring because they are impressed and wish they had the will power, drive, and dedication to push the weights I do.. I seriously block out everyone around me.

It’s as if I am the only one in the gym!! I might even sing a line of a song a little louder then I should!! Opps

OH WELL!! I am not there to make friends or look pretty.. I am there to kick butt and train hard… I will do what ever it takes to complete my rep/sets..

I agree with all your comments, I work most of the time on a University campus so you end up with lots of yong 18 year olds checking each other out and monday is ALWAYS chest day for the guys!

I had to build a home gym to actually get anything done. I think the smaller private gyms are the way to go if you can find one in your area. But of course when traveling it is too hard often times.

If I could pull off the “home gym” thing I would, yet with my job and sponsorship, I have to get out there and “show my face”.
