Big 3

Because no one else has bothered to post a discussion to get the healthy arguments going I will try to provoke it. Lebron, DWade and Bosh all now wear the Heat logo on their chest. Personally I think this will go down as one of the biggest flops of a team in NBA history. Sure you have the league MVP, a guy who averages 27 ppg in Dwayne and the inside presence of Bosh, however, there is only 1 basketball and multiple areas for arguments and team problems.

I am over this whole talk about Lebron… He obviously made this decision for a reason which makes sense to him… I am sure he had good reasons for making this decision…
It doesn’t make sense to the general public however i am sure he has a plan… He didn’t make this decision on his own, I am sure he had intelligent agents, managers, and other influential people support his decision…

LET THE MAN LIVE! When people talk about him they act as if they know the guy! You Don’t Know His Real Intentions!!

This is what MJ said about the move

this will be a hot topic for some time with the media—i’m not a big bball fan but saw this newscast from bryant gumbel over the weekend that struck a chord…

“LeBron’s decision is typical of our immediate gratification era, but itflies in the face of history. Even though he never won a title, DanMarino is still the biggest hero in Florida. And in Boston, all thoseCeltics championships are dimmed by the unforgettable brilliance of TedWilliams, who never won anything. In Chicago, Gale Sayers and Dick Butkus have legendary status despite playing on losing teams. And even in the NBA, where guys seem obsessed with being viewed as “the man,” real men like Barkley, Ewing and Baylor are ringless, but revered.

Despite such evidence to the contrary, LeBron James seems to think he needs a ring to change his life and secure his legacy. Maybe he’ll get one, maybe he won’t, but it’s probable that no amount of rings will ever remove the stench he wallowed in last week. LeBron may yet find that in the court of public opinion, just as putting on a tux can’t make a guy a gentleman, winning a ring can’t make one truly a champion.”

oh boy, ok here we go…

- 1 ball argument… the Dream Team only had 1 ball to play with and we all know how that turned out. these guys have played together and had success on team USA, and the system you can put in place with Lebron and Wade both handling the ball so well pretty much eliminates the need for a point guard. this team will be the anti-Nash. give them a deadly shooter like Mike Miller and a big man to do little things in the middle like Big Z and you have a really dangerous team. i’m not a heat or really a bball fan, but i am a big fan of how riley put this team together. obviously all of their numbers will suffer, but that just means they are putting their egos aside and if it results in championships it’s worth it to them.

- that’s a decent point by Bryant Gumbel, but none of those guys is really in the argument for Best Ever like Lebron is. if Lebron can’t at least come close to MJ and even Kobe in rings, how is he going to be able to claim that title? the ‘04 Pistons are the only team in recent memory not to have at least 2-3 Superstar/HOF level players on their team, and Lebron sees that and is making the best move for his career. Lebron is recognizing that this is a team sport and one player, no matter how great, can carry a team to a championship. granted, he would’ve had good chances with the way the Cavs team was constructed around him, but how could you possibly say that he doesn’t currently stand a better chance with these other great players?

- “immediate gratification”? each of those guys is leaving at least $15 mil on the table to make this happen. in a business like the nba that is the ultimate sacrifice, not to cash in on your biggest possible payday when you have the chance. i think he is really talking about Joe Johnson, Mr. “pass up on a great team opportunity with Phoenix to get his money”

- i’ll admit it was pretty devastating to Cleveland, but i agree with llulko that everyone needs to STFU cause like Lebron said in his interview, this is a business and teams do this to players all the time with no phone call or loyalty, but only thinking about what’s best for the team.

- 2011 could be just as interesting and present a similar situation… it’s a distinct possiblity that you could end up with Chris Paul, Amare Stoudamire and Carmelo Anthony in NYC and that would make for a hell of a showdown between 3somes for years to come.

my 2 cents… or 20

I’m just a little disappointed about the talent beginning to become concentrated to certain teams, because more and more like Pete said you’re beginning to hear about this big 3 in new york and seems to me that these guys don’t want the challenge of facing these other NBA Giants, instead they are trying to make their lives easier and lessen the competition by joining them. All I know is that I can still get into Nets games for 10 bucks and sit 18 rows back from center court ( I actually did that) and see all of this talent when they come to town…

Basketball is not a sport I like, I just dont care for the culture of it or think it is a hard sport to play.
