snickers

Is a Snickers a good meal?  I ask this because we have a box of snickers at our gym and I have grown to love them!  I find myself eating a few a day.  Everytime I eat one I feel good, full, and satisfied.  is the bar really that bad for you?  I heard chocolat is actually good for you, right?   what about the nuts and the carmell?

This is actually a pretty good question. A TON of successful college football programs used to FORCE their offensive lineman to eat snickers during their hardest training (right before football season) to gain weight! Tons of guys would put on 10-20lbs in 2 months by eating anywhere from 10-20 snickers per day!! So, on a small scale level of eating 1-2, I Say go for it.

Really processed candy bar??
How is this actually good for you other then your goal being to gain weight??

And what do you mean they Force athletes to eat them?? Nobody would have to force me… i would gladly eat them… you would have to force me not to eat it…

omg!! Snickers are THE BEST!! I can’t have them in my house

Just sounds like cheap way to get a long lasting sugar spike due to the sugar and nuts??

why not eat dark organic chocolate and nuts.. so much healthier

They are pretty much just a bunch of different types of sugar packed into a snack. A little one every once in a while won’t kill you, especially if you have a really high metabolism like most athletes, but I wouldn’t recommend that athletes eat a lot of them to gain weight… that’s not the type of weight you want to gain. They advertise that they’re a good snack cause they have peanuts in them, but really nothing about them makes them a good or nutritious snack.

It is probably not good for you other than for gaining weight…Which they are 18 years old, so, I am sguessing every one of them is healthy as they workout more than almost any other human. So, gaining weight is their #1 priority!

snickers are candy… a great treat and tasty dessert, but shouldn’t be considered a viable option for a “snack”. they have peanuts, and that is really the only thing that is even halfway decent in them. but considering that they are packaged with a ton of sugar, and are pretty much devoid of any good nutrients, they are not anywhere close to a healthy snack.

the chocolate in snickers is milk chocolate, and contains barely any cacao, the ingredient that carries all the flavanols and anti-oxidants that make dark chocolate good. it is packed with sugar.

caramel is sugar.

nougat is sugar mixed with beaten egg whites, but mostly sugar.

it’s all sugar, no fiber, very very little protein, and really nothing that you want to be putting in your body on a consistent basis. you might get a nice energy rush after eating one due to all the sugar, but you are gonna crash soon after it, so i wouldn’t use it to get up for a workout.

i agree with you pete,, its just silly to even suggest athletes to eat snickers.. obviously their coaches are not looking out for htere health.. they just want them to gain “bad” weight.. what a sad thing to teach an athlete

I say ya gotta do whatever is in the best interest of the athlete to reach their own goals!! They come to the program with goals in mind. It is not the coaches job to make sure they are healthy. IT is the coaches job to help that athlete reach their goal regardless of what health benefits may come into play. Coaches need to win to keep their job. It is a cut throat industry.

This is a horrible comment. There are morals involved in any job you do… to push snickers or unhealthy food to an uneducated athlete is MORALLY wrong…

The athlete has put trust and faith into their coach… they would NEVER assume their coach didn’t care about their healthy.  Unfortunately there are many coaches like this… but that does not make it right.. They should be fired if they didn’t care about the well being of their athletes

The athletes very well know how healthy a snickers bar is for crying out loud! I mean, a 12 year old can tell you that candy bars are not good for you. These kids are 18-24 years old. Believe me, they know the nutrition label. But, they are exercising anywhere from 5-8 hours a day in training camps!! They burn their energy stores so fast they need to eat anything in their sights just to maintain their weight, and, a surplus of calories to gain weight during this crazy training phase. So it’s not like your average couch potato eating a ton of snickers.

They are still putting trust in their coaches believing that snickers are a good alternative… You of all people know there are better sources of calories then cheap processed snickers…

These kids are going to believe they are the exception and candy bars are good for them…

I seriously read forums were figure athletes really believe skittles are GREAT post workout snack?

These people are actually trying to lose weight hahah..

My point is that coaches should opt for healthier energy foods then candy bars… In there eyes they are cheap, convenient, and have lots of calories…

Of course. They eat them throughout practice when they’re not going to go and get some pasta served on a platter right before they go and line up to go to battle. I mean they give them to them during practices and breaks at practices. It’s not like when they sit there for supper they are sitting down to 7 snicker bars, yanno?

I think snickers are a great meal, they have nuts which give you protein and chocolate that is very good for your skin. They are also high in sugars which raise your insilin level and get you more siked up for training, which is a good thing. Don’t let people tell you its bad because of what the news or something like that would say, theywill give you false advertisement to make a buck off putitng so called “scary news” out there so that they get more ratings. If you enjoy eating snickers jon then i would eat snickers, we only live once so why not make the best of it right? I sometimes eat snickers when i am feeling down or got a case of the blues. sometimes a snikcers will comfort me in the middle of the night and assure me that everything is going to be ok. A snickers will never judge me or call me bad names, it won’t tease me on the playground or pick me last for its dodgeball games. It has never made me cry once or insulted me to make itself feel better. As a matter of fact, I have never been hurt by a snickers bar before. Only good things happen to me when I eat snickers so that is why I eat snickers as often and as much as I can. They make me feel good inside and I like that, It would be safe to say that snickers are my best friend and I take them everywhere I go, just like a best friend would. So if you like snickers I would say eat as many snickers as you can get your hands on and enjoy every bite like it is your last.

OMG! Either you are talking about women or an actual snickers bar lol

I am not saying “NEVER” have a snickers bar! That would be insane… maybe a mini snickers bar once in a blue moon

What about these ingredients are healthy to you???

Snickers ingredients are: milk chocolate (sugar, cocoa butter, chocolate, skimmed milk, lactose, milkfat, soy lecithin, artificial flavor), peanuts, corn syrup, sugar, skimmed milk, butter, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, lactose (a milk product), salt, egg whites and artificial flavor

Sugar, artificial flavor (probably more crap then we know) corn syrup, butter, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, salt???

THIS IS SHIT!

Would you give this advice to an obese child?? It’s not really a joke… many kids eat sugar and fatty filled foods to comfort their emotions… Dam when i was younger I loved eating snickers!

I had one once in a while because I ate pretty healthy throughout the day and had a fast metabolism. (oh boy what i would do to have that metabolism back) BUT… I didn’t eat it as comfort food! you have to be careful with your comments because there may be an obese child feeling reassurance that it’s ok to eat “comfort food”

I don’t recommend eating snicker on a daily bases.. You should try to teach kids healthy habits..

There are many healthier alternatives that taste pretty good if you plan on giving your kids a treat on a daily bases..
