Have any of youi ever messed around with carb cycling? Did you see any results? Why did you do it? To lean up? I am curious just as to your overall energy, weight loss, how your training went, etc. I have never done it and am just curious to see your guys experience with it.

Thanks!

i haven’t ever given it a serious run, but more often than not i am trying to practice carb cycling principles. i try to eat most of my carbs on workout days and typically before noon, but i’m not very strict with it. the science behind carb cycling is good, but everyone’s body responds differently so if you don’t know you should just give it a try and see what happens!

Ahh I see I see. That is a really good response. I guess in a way I do that exact same thing - on my HARD workout days I eat more carbs in the morning (oatmeal), and on non workout days I guess I just don’t eat many carbs because I don’t feel I need the extra energy. So I guess I would agree that I Sort of use the principles, but not strictly nor to the extremes. I am going to give it a shot soon I think though. I hear you can lean up pretty quickly on it and still perform pretty well.

Here’s a great article Pete wrote about the different principles if you really want to give it a go! I’ve heard of people achieving some really great results on it, so it’s definitely worth a try. Some people do really really well with restricted carbs while others respond better to lower protein or fat, but you’ll never really know until you try.

hahah pete./ yeah the holidays do that but thats what teh holidays are for lol…

i guess i do a form of carb cycleing.. i eat my carbs early in the day.. i guess i will never do true carb cycling because i will NEVER give up my protien pancake with oatmeal in the morning lol.. i do eat more carbs on the weekend but i have fats with it.. does this make carb cycling with the exta fats to?? i dont think so.. it more of a cheat meal i guess…

the carbs i get during the week
1/2 oatmeal
3/4 cup bluberries
3 oz parsnips
tons and tons of green veggies.. dont really count them….maybe 4 cups a day

on the weekend i will have extra maybe sushi (rice, wine lol, pita bread, sweet potatoes ect….

what are your thoughts?

You obviously eat really healthy, and a lot of veggies! Nice. I like what I am seeing. The blueberries are also tremendous. Yep, with that protein pancake that probably takes carb cycling out haha. Even on low carb days I tihnk people are in the 50-75 range depending on their bodyweight, so I tihnk it would depend on that. Although, the veggies do have some carbs in them as well (especially if you’re eating upwards of 4 cups per day). Overall I am sure you see great results with what you do, so I See no reason to change it!

Thanks for the reassurance lol… yeah it works when i stick to it and dont go super crazy on the weekends… gosh!!! That could kill your diet…

My husband is soooo lucky…crazy weekends don’t affect him at all… his goal is to keep weight on!! Hate him for that!

He only retains water…

It won’t affect me when i am right on point with my ideal weight (having cheat meals) but over a few months period it 2-3 times a week it will catche up!!

That’s why i am eating super healthy NOW!!! The holidays killed me lol
