What are some good late night meals?
my favorite prebed snack:
1/2 cup cottage cheese
1 tbsp flax oil
1 tbsp peanut butter
1 scoop chocolate protein powder (prefereably with cassein)
some milk to help mix
this meal has a bunch of cassein protein in it which will be released slowly in your body to help with rebuilding of muscles and it’s loaded with good, clean sources of fat. it is also freakin delicious!

llulko, the things you have to take into account are first off
overall calorie count throughout the day, and what your body does at
night. your body doesn’t process calories all at once when you eat,
nutrients are released into your bloodstream by your digestive system
at varying rates based on any number of factors, for example whey
protein is processed and released quickly into your system while
cassein is released at a much slower rate. with this in mind, you can
plan to accomodate a late night meal into your meal plan.
it
is a complete wive’s tale that a meal right before bed will make you
fat. of course, if you are eating a big bowl of ice cream with a
brownie right before bed, you are going to get fat. but the truth is
that if you eat that ice cream and brownie right after dinner, they
will make you fat. this misinformation has more to do with what people
typically consume right before bed (think dessert) than the timing of
the meal. clean foods are processed more efficiently by your body than
crap, and especially snacks with a ton of sugar aren’t received well by
your body and are turned into fat.
the key is to eat
something clean. you can have a scoop of protein powder, or you can
even bump your dinner back a couple hours without any ill effects as
long as it is clean food. your body does a lot of things while you
sleep, liek repairing damaged muscle tissue, and requires nutrients to
keep functioning. that’s why you are hungry when you wake up in the
morning; it’s not like your body shuts down and stops consuming and
using calories while you sleep.
so the short answer to “what can you eat as a prebed snack” is ‘anything clean”. that
prebed pudding recipe i posted just happens to be my favorite meal
since it is kinda like dessert and it has a ton of quality nutrients to
keep my body fueled while sleeping.

Thanks for all the info.
I never worry about eating to late at night. It works perfect for me because I finish my workout at 7:00 pm so I have a post workout meal around 7:30 and a snack around 9 pm.
My post workout meal usually consists of tilapia, turbot, shrimp, scallops or other white fish, 1 cup veggies, and 3 oz sweet potato.
For my late night snack I have either optimum casein or Probolic mhp protein shake mixed with 2-3 tbsp of fat free sugar free cool whip. I like to keep my last meal light so it fits into my daily macros, plus I like to end my day with something chocolaty and sweet!!!

yeah, protein powder with cool whip doesn’t sound like it would go down very easy but hey, whatever floats your boat.
i train pretty late just like you llulko, so my meal timing is kinda messed up. i’ll throw down my post-workout after my workout, get a real dinner in there, and if i stay up late i’ll squeeze my prebed snack in. most nights there isn’t enough time between dinner and bed though to get that extra meal in since i eat dinner so late. i don’t really count my calories though so i guess it’s a little different for you.

Hahah.. No I don’t just mix protein powder with cool whip.. I make protein ice cream
What I do is:
-Mix 1 scoop of protein powder with about 3 tbsp of water, mix it to a pudding consitentcy.
-Once I have my desired consistency I add in 3 tbsp of fat free sugar free cool whip
-Then I put it into the freezer for about 2-3 hours.
Walla.. Protein ice cream
