How relevant is internal food absorption after eating?  Is it really something to be concerned about aside from just making sure you get relevant amounts of food in you per day?

I know it may sound like a strange question, obviously if you don’t absorb relevant micro- and macro-nutrients for your diet, then you don’t benefit from consuming.  However, can your ability to absorb during the digestion process be hindered by certain diet or external factors?

food absorption is definitely something you should be worried about. everything runs through your gut.if you aren’t properly absorbing the nutrients you put in your body then it doesn’t matter how clean you eat.

This might be off topic, but why is it that I eat so fast, and then 3 min after I eat I always have to go to the bathroom right away!???? why is this?  does this have to do with food absorption??

as you eat, food is moved through your intestinal tract as you finish digesting it. your intestines have muscles that do this involuntarily, whether you want them to or not. as those muscles push the food through, it pushes the food that was in there from previous meals further down, and inevitably it reaches your colon and you have to go to the bathroom.
you aren’t crapping out the food you just ate, but the food from the previous day or two. it’s perfectly normal, especially if you eat a lot. one sign of a healthy gut is regular pooping, ideally the same number of craps as the times you eat a big meal. another thing to look for is the quality of your crap - you want “a foot-long floater with no odor”.
i know that was graphic, but you asked. shrug
