i like how they used groups - all the berries, tree nuts, grass-fed meats, brassica and allium (onions and garlic) vegetables together, which basically allowed them to include like 30 foods instead of just 10. i’d say that’s a pretty solid list, although i might take the beans off in favor of green leafy veggies like spinach, and i might throw avocados on the list. i would probably also replace pomegranate juice with coffee. seeing as coffee promotes more antioxidant activity than green tea, you can’t really justify having green tea on the list ahead of coffee. and pomegranate JUICE, while a great source of antioxidants, has a lot of sugar and no fiber, which isn’t a good combination.
i’ll note that all the nuts they listed were tree nuts and that “nuts” like peanuts and cashews are actually legumes, which are beans. you could include lentils in that bean group as well. they are great foods, but would probably put other foods higher on the list.

I am right with you Pete… I am shocked they choose beans over green vegetables. Beans are a great source of fiber but nothing beats vegetables..

I also agree with you about pomegranate juice… I would not consume juice on a daily bases due to the sugars, i would much rather eat a fruit then drink it.

I prefer drinking coffee or green tea especially since i think i am addicted to it lol…

I had no idea peanuts and cashews were legumes!! Is there a difference in there nutrient profile??

there’s a big difference. just like was mentioned in the soy thread, there are many anti-nutrients in peanuts, etc because they are legumes and not actual tree nuts. you also have the allergies to deal with. i bet you know a few people with peanut allergies, but you’d be hard-pressed to find a single person with an allergy to almonds, walnuts, pecans or any other type of tree nut.

That is a pretty good list. I like that they didn’t actually get real scientific with it haha. It is a simple list, but good for the most part. Obviously no 2 experts would pry ever agree with the top 30 healthiest foods in the world.

I like the info you posted though Pete…Some of that stuff can be pretty misleading to people. That’s the kind of stuff most people overlook, and just go to the store thinking it’s the same thing anyway (the p. juice).

I thought that was a pretty solid list right there. Obviously I think they stayed pretty conservative but overall it was a great list and a great guideline for people to follow. High quality stuff right there.

Yep!! You said it right!! It’s a great guide for people to follow.  These foods should be the main core of your diet.

I don’t understand why people have trouble eating healthy when it is simply written!!

Just eat these foods and avoid processed crap!! Simple!

In reference to the article..

I would avoid pomegranate juice or any juice… I prefer to eat the actual fruit then drink juice. This is just my preference… Also i would not drink whole milk, i rather chew and eat my food then drink it…

I honestly LOVE veggies, eggs, fish, grass fed beef, green tea, berries, beans, apples, and nuts… I can’t see how people don’t like these foods??

I would definitely add oatmeal though!! I don think i could live without out!

What is your favorite food on the list?
