NFL combine

Has anyone been following the combine as of recently?
I recently had the experience to see some good players go throught their combine prep its pretty apparent when you see some of these guys run…. pretty awesome speed.
Good stuff!!

i’m a huge sports fan so i always follow the combine. that sounds really interesting, what kind of stuff were they doing to prepare for it? any specific lifts or were they just running through the drills they do at the combine?

The programs were very individual and taylored to each guys specific needs. I saw a bunch of Olympic lifts done and a large amount of special jumping drills.Obviously a lot of bench press training and a lot of form work on the bench. They did quite a bit of rehab/GPP type sessions.

That’s really cool, the guys must’ve been great athletes. Anyone we should keep an eye out for on TV?

What is GPP?

TJ Ward from oregon for sure.
GPP is short for General Physical Preparation basically means any type of training that isn’t specific to the sport. It can inclue things like flexibility, strength, mobility etc.

Bruce Campbell was a freak. A 4.85 40 yard dash is pretty much unheard of for a man of his size, although Trent Williams was right behind him. He is looking like the Vernon Davis of this year’s draft with so-so production in college but great combine numbers.
Gotta love what Jahvid Best did wth his 40 yard dash and 3 cone drill times (I’m a little biased cause my lil bro went to Cal but they were still impressive).
Tebow showed he is a stellar athlete for a QB, but he didn’t throw and if you have to translate those numbers to a RB or TE position it isn’t nearly as impressive.
Also have to say that Eric Berry cemented his status as the best safety/DB in the draft. He put up better numbers than Taylor Mays in most categories and Mays is supposed to be the athletic freak. Mays should’ve come out last year when he would’ve been a top 5 pick.

yeah, jahvid did us proud, GO BEARS! haha

meatsack, the florida guys actually didnt do as well as they should have:
- tebow didn’t throw, which being as “competitive” as he is i really think he should have just to show his progress with his new throwing mechanics.
- haden ran an extremely slow 40 for a projected top 10 pick db.
- i haven’t heard anything about hernandez and none of his results are even posted in the top scores in any event, which can’t be a good thing. i always thought he would be a stud too so i’ve been watching for him. he might’ve come out a year too early.
- dunlap had a decent 40 time but not much else, and i’ve heard he hasn’t done very well in his interviews.
- spikes should’ve come out last year. i’ve heard his interviews haven’t been great, and especially with that eye-gouging thing in the middle of the year he definitely hurt his stock. he didn’t run the 40 cause his weakness is supposed to be straight-line speed and he “plays faster than he runs” but needless to say he isn’t helping himself right now.

Yeah, this might be one of the fastest classes in history. I would love to see a race between Jacoby Ford, Trindon Holliday, Jahvid Best and CJ Spiller. all 40 yard dash times under 4.4! All of those guys have been track stars at some point, it would be a hell of a race. Gotta wonder if they might’ve even had a little impromptu race at the combine for fun, does that kind of stuff ever happen?

Whos is taking Tebow is the real question?

Yeah, i always make sure to take my multi’s. I read somewhere that one really intense lifting session can set you back and deplete your mineral levels for as much as up to 18 days afterwards or something like that. Gotta make sure your body is supplied with good stuff to keep it working properly.

Nice post, research does suggest that athletes, especially those training hard, such as football players, need to get adequate micronutrients. A daily multi is a great way to do this. The research especially highlights that most athletes don’t get enough micronutrients even by the standards of what is recommended for the general population.
