The secrete is, there is no secrete.  If you can figure that out early
on in this sport of Olympic weightlifting then you are already three
steps ahead of the game.  If you can understand that this sport is hard,
painfull, and most of the time not rewarding then you will be a
champion.  If you can get it through your head that it will take many,
many years to hit the big numbers and have a chance at the Olympics then
you are already more dedicated then most that think weightlifting is a
short term story.  Your weightlifting story, and adventure is a long and
hard road, and if you are prepared to go down it to see the light at
the end of the tunel then you have the right mind set.  The road is
scarey, there are wolves and witches and bears all trying to eat and
scare you!  But if you have the guts to carry on throughout all the
bears and witches that this sport provides, then you will be a champ.

Lions and Tigers and Bears, OH MY!

So you are saying that it’s mostly a mental gameand that perseverance matters more than skill in this sport?

Jon.. i have a questions.. why are you so determined to win the olympics?

What made you want to dedicate your life to this sport?

If you win what will you gain?

If you lose (which you wont) what will your thoughts be?

I am just curious.. it seems so mentally and physically draining.  I would not have the dedication you do.

SO basically.. what drives to to live/choose this life style?

Its in my blood!  I cant explain it, its kinda like my high, instead of chystal meth I like to win! It keeps me chaseing something, it keeps me young, my energy high, my spirit high, i sense of acomplishment, seperates me from the average joe’s of the world, keeps me fighting all the time, teaches me to not only fight to win but to fight for anything you want in life and how no one will give it you except if your a lib.  Plus I am not going to lie I like the attention, the fam and the spot light on me!  who dosent?  thats just what I think.  anybody else.

Working out is my life… It defines who i am… Eating healthy, cooking and training is what i know and love to do… The gym is one place i feel totally confident and at peace with myself…

It’s like my drug and meditation

I Love feeling and confident about myself and knowing i can accomplish my goals… If i over indulge one week i KNOW i can get back on track the following week.

Training and cooking consumes my life but that’s who i am… My family and friends think i am crazy because i don’t have the free time like they do but this life style defines ME!  I don’t want to know any other lifestyle.  Knowing that i am taking good care of my body and health makes me happy.  I have one life, one body and one mind.  I will make the best of it!
