What is the best RTD drink to suppliment into ones diet? Any one have a good one for someone that is looking for dry lean mass gains?

there really isn’t one. muscle milk is crap (although they do taste pretty decent), and the rest of the ones on the market aren’t really any better. if you held a gun to my head and i had to recommend one i’d probably go with Labrada lean bodies but in general you are much better off just using dry protein powder and a mixing bottle.

We have a guy at our gym who loves Muscle Milk RTDs. I think he lives off them! What makes them so bad in your view?

Muscle Milk taste GREAT however it is high in fat and filled with fillers. The fillers are basically empty calories (ingredients which make it taste good) that do not supply any nutritional value.   There are far better choices of protein powers to choice from…
I would not recommend buying ready made shakes.  They are more expensive and usually filled with garbage.  I would just take an extra MINUTE of my day and pack a few scoops of protein powder..  If I was on the go and had to buy a ready made shake I would choice Labrada Lean as well.

yeah, what she said, haha. llulko hit it on the head. there has also been some talk about whether or not the protein denatures because it’s sitting in liquid too, but i haven’t seen anything definitive one way or the other on that matter.
either way, its not necessarily more convenient to carry RTD shakes and you can find way higher quality protein powders so i would just stick with those.

Good to know.
Anyone know where to get the Labrada shakes?

I’ve seen those on a ton of sites online, they are easy enough to find. If you live near a Vitamin Shoppe I’m pretty sure they carry them there too.

Pete you really dont like Muscle Milk as a RTD? I saw their monster milk RTD and the ratios of the fat and protein levels were pretty good. The best part about it was it tasted great.

llulko, he is referring to their product monster milk which is in a
black cannister. it’s more of a bulking/mass shake and has a lot more
protein than their standard muscle milk formula. heres a link:
http://www.cytosport.com/products/monster-milk/monster-milk-powder

meatsack i am really overall just not a fan of RTD shakes. granted Cytosport is better than most companies out there, so i wouldn’t worry as much about the quality of their ingredients as some other companies, but there are better products out there. i know that Cytomax, their energy drink, was formulated by George Brooks, an exercise physiologist from Cal who is known for discovering lactate so i would trust that over something like Gatorade or Powerade, i just question the quality of their protein shakes. you could do worse than Musclemilk and if taste is your goal then by all means use that, i just think there are better products for attaining the other goals you might have.

i dont really use pre mixed shakes. but i have tried the muscle milk ones. they’re not too bad. best tasting protein ive tried.  i stick with powdered whey from optimum nutrition and mix with water cause im cheap.
