As I’m sure most of you agree with this…I am a nut about wiping machines down after use.  Especially after all of this swine flu business…
Do you guys know what gyms rank highest when it comes to cleanliness?
Any suggestions or stories anyone would like to share?

I would say any YMCA I have never seen one in bad condition and the ones in ohio anyway have good equipment (Nebula and Hammer) so thats not an issue

It’s not so much the gym that’s dirty… it’s the people that workout in the gym that make it dirty
Ex.
Not wiping down their sweaty bench, machines, or cardio equipment,
Gum on the floor
Empty water bottles and towels left around the gym
Weights not put away or stacked
Resistance bands, medicine balls, and set ups not put away
I can go on forever.

I hate when people are inconsiderate… it does not take much to clean up after yourself …
Big pet peeve

This is one of the reasons why I like working out at home.  I don’t have to worry about any of this.

sometimes i feel like my gym has a bit of a hospital sterile look to it. although u are right about the sweat and wiping down ur machines if ur a nasty sweaty beast.  also reracking ur weight in a gym is common courtesy and should be without question. other then that i don’t mind if there’s chalk on the floor as long as the people using chalk are lifting heavy ass weights.  i prefer smaller gyms geared at hardcore powerlifters/bodybuilders. it’s really the atmosphere and people around me that makes or breaks it for me.

i agree.. tjlang. my gym is so unmotivating… i am pretty much the only girl that squats or deadlifts there.  I would like my gym better if it were geared more towards bodybuilders and focused people

there’s nothing more unmotivating when you’re training and everyone around you is just going through the motions.  granted they are in the gym and i do give them credit for being there. most people are there for improving general health which is great. i wish there were more girls like you who aren’t afraid to touch some weights.  women can benefit so much from resistance training.

I agree. Most women think they will get there ideal body if they starve them selves and do endless amount of cardio… Unless they are genetically gifted they are far from reaching their goals.  They will look “skinny fat” and destroy their metabolism

Yeah i feel like the fitness stuff you need to wipe down but the free weights you cant really do much about it
